Usually when we drive to school, a lady talks about [Trump] a lot on the radio.
I don’t really like him at all. He does a lot of bad things. He has lied. He also has locked up kids from their families. I like [a president] to act good and make the world a better place [and] clean the ocean.
If there was a president and he only did one thing against the law and then never does it again, I would say maybe [don’t] have that impeachment. But if somebody kept doing it over and over again, I say, yes, we should have an impeachment.
Besides my parents, my teachers don’t really talk about [the 2020 election]. Sometimes when I’m at a sports practice I hear some of my coaches talking about it sometimes. Nobody in my grade really talks about politics, unless it’s like “Trump’s about to get impeached.” Like that [Roger] Stone thing we would, like, talk about because it’s, like, important.
On the news, there’s always some controversial thing on it. It’s like, “Breaking news: Trump declares thing that’s not good for the country.” The Democrats are always criticizing him for doing something, bad stuff.
My parents, they like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, and I agree with them on that. And then they say Joe Biden wouldn’t do as well as the other candidates. He would be an improvement on Trump but it still wouldn’t be good. I watched the democratic debate a month ago, and the first thing everybody was talking about were new health care plans and Medicare plans. So that’s a big factor in which Democrat to elect to run against Trump.
Sometimes when I’m in the car, sometimes we turn on the news in the car and listen to everything that’s happening on the news. Sometimes it’s on in the morning when my parents are up early watching the news. In class sometimes we hear about the news. [I want the president to be] someone who accepts everyone, someone who takes action if something happens, someone who can accept ideas even if they don’t believe in that.
He doesn’t seem too qualified to me, like for president. He seems like he’s just some guy with a lot of money. He thinks he can do whatever he wants. If Trump broke a law, I feel like it’s not fair that he can’t be arrested or convicted just because he’s the president.
In class we’re learning about climate change, so sometimes we learn about, like, who believes in it and who’s isn’t doing something to change climate change. The recent thing with Greta [Thunberg] on Twitter, it’s not good. He shouldn’t tell her to stop doing whatever she’s doing to help the world.
He’s an idiot, Cheeto-head. He did like a couple of bad things, like exploding bombs and stuff. [A president should be] honest, respectful, and responsible.
Sometimes me and my friend Charlotte, or me and my dad or mom talk about [politics], but it’s not a very common topic. Sometimes we just talk about the topic or what’s going on. Dad likes to tell us what’s happening in the impeachment hearings or we talk about why we don’t like what’s going on.
I think that [the impeachment hearings] showed that the president is willing to, like, work information over and over again until it kind of works in his favor. I think that the next part might be unfair because there’s more Republican people on the Senate, according to my parents.
I don’t like him. I think that he’s cruel because he’s discriminating against Mexican people and immigrants at the border, and he’s very prejudiced against other people. He’s an idiot. He likes posting nonsensical things on Twitter. Like I saw this one tweet that Robert Pattinson should dump Kristen Stewart. But she’s married to someone totally different! It’s just ridiculous. He’s not very smart and he never fact-checks anything and he only accepts that pro-him stuff is real. Stuff that casts him in a good light is “real.”
[I want the president to be] someone who’s fair and just and is kind to other people, who is honest and doesn’t lie about things and who can accept other people, and who’s smart enough to do business the way it should be done.
Mom and Dad say [Trump] makes bad choices. He [seems] powerful, mean, and selfish. [Obama] seems way nicer. He has a nicer face. [Trump] has a mean face.
I mean, he’s not very good in my opinion. I don’t really know why he got elected. He doesn’t believe in global warming; I’ve heard that if we don’t stop global warming in a few years, the air won’t be very good to breathe.
I would want there to be a woman president, that would be cool. And I want them to be nice, fair, make good decisions, and not do bad things like Trump does. I don’t know why a president could be allowed to do that stuff and there not be, like, some kind of punishment.
There’s this thing going on called Team Trees where they’re trying to save up $20 million for 20 million trees, and [if I were president] I would try to get more people to do that. I think about what would actually happen if we didn’t do anything about climate change at all. The air would be that bad. I could get like some kind of lung disease.
I do not like him to say the very least, because he’s a moron. Impeachment trials are being held against him, he was like doing that meeting secret thing with Ukraine or whatever. It’s mainly my dad telling me about it at breakfast. Third president to ever be impeached.
[We need politicians who are] not just like, “Hey butler, tell people that I didn’t do this.” Like actually, just don’t do it. [We need] someone who actually cares about the country that he’s being the president of, someone that sets the tone — like Barack Obama.
The headlines on newspapers looked different [before Trump], I don’t really see a difference where I live. That probably is much different for people in Washington, D.C., because he lives there and he must screw that place up a lot.
