For those stressing about the existential threat of global warming, Joe Biden has a singular moment in history to materially reduce carbon emissions. In his inaugural address, Biden should have announced to the world that the U.S. will rejoin the Paris Accord the day that China and India have reduced their carbon emissions to the same extent that the U.S. already has — and not a day before.
Object to that idea? Well, that’s because you aren’t really interested in reducing world carbon emissions. You’re interested in politics. Which is why Biden didn’t have the guts to do it. He’s afraid of alienating people like you, who applaud naming someone like John Kerry to deal with global warming. Don’t like that idea? Suggest a better way to get the world to force China and India, the two major polluters in the world, to seriously reduce carbon emissions.
Don’t talk about the “Green New Deal” or U.S. leadership. The U.S. has already led. Global warming is a global problem. We’ve done our part and will continue to do so. The measure of Biden/Kerry is the extent to which they actually get China and India to seriously reduce emissions, not the grandiose speeches they make.
So we’re all supposed to unite under Joe Biden, right? The nation is supposed to heal under his leadership? That can’t happen until the left acknowledges and apologizes for its horrific treatment of the right. For four years the left called me a Nazi, a terrorist, a white supremicist, an idiot, an evil person. For four years the left called for violence against me, called on society to ostracize me, called for me to be put in prison for no other reason than that I voted for and continue to support Donald Trump. For four years the left sought to undermine a duly-elected president and reverse a legal election.
And now I’m supposed to suddenly forget all of that and unite behind Joe Biden?
I’m willing to do that … but not until the left acknowledges what it has done and apologizes for how it has treated me and the 70 million-plus Americans who voted for Donald Trump. Until that happens, there will be no unity.
Rep. Jackie Walorski has decided that Congress should not impeach Donald Trump because we need to unify the nation. Perhaps the dear representative needs a primer on the Constitution and on reality.
First, the Constitution does not say that the president may be impeached for committing high crimes and misdemeanors, but not if national unity is harmed. Second, it is the height of hypocrisy to invoke the need for national unity to protect the individual most responsible for dividing the nation. One hopes voters hold Walorski responsible for such nonsense in 2022.
