Last week, we endured day after day of heat indices topping 100 degrees. I was lucky enough to have A/C to help me ride out the heat that shrouded the Lehigh Valley, but not everyone can say the same. Fittingly, that same week, an international group of scientists released a report stating that climate change is happening even faster than previously expected.
It’s not just Pennsylvania: this summer we’ve seen the impacts of climate change across the country, from wildfires in Colorado to deadly heat waves in Oregon to intense flooding right here at home.
The science is clear. The situation is dire. But it’s not too late to avoid the worst impacts if we act now.
We already have the solutions, from electric vehicles to clean renewable energy, and Pennsylvanians overwhelmingly support federal investment in climate action.
All that’s left is for Congress to pass these big, bold investments so we can ensure we have a livable future for years to come. That’s why I appreciate U.S. Rep. Susan Wild standing up for Pennsylvanians and working to get bold climate action passed at the federal level.
