Gurgaon: Instead of celebrating April Fool, the residents of new sectors gave a green twist and celebrated the day as ‘April Cool’. The resident’s group called United Association of New Gurugram (UANG) is celebrating a month-long ‘April Cool’ to spread awareness about the increasing global warming.
As many as 35 housing societies, including NBCC Heights, Regal Gardens, Sare Homes, Microtek Greenburg, Vatika K Block, G-21 and Supertech 77, have come forward to join the initiative. The residents have pledged to make the surrounding more cool by planting saplings at various places.
Praveen Malik, vice-president of UANG said, “We are already facing global warming and the planet temperature is rising at a speed which is why we have launched this month-long initiative ‘April Cool’ to give more meaning to it. We have invoked people to come and do their bit to protect the nature earth. More than 35 housing societies have participated in this and took a pledge to take care of the plants around us.”
Apart for this, the residents will also hold cleanliness drives and adoption of plants during this whole month to instil a sense of responsibility towards the planet and protect it from further depletion. “Though it is small but a positive step to bring some change in the society. Everyone should avoid the use of polythene, unnecessary use of private vehicle and plant more and more trees,” said Neeraj Awasthi, a resident of Regal Garden.
